First not sure this is ok to post a like to a video on the forums, if it's not I won't be upset to it being removed. Although the video is really nice!
The video teaches you how to get your foundations to be at level with or even a bit lower than the floor of the raft/platform you are building on. I used it on my raft and do not have a sunken area for the drive/rudder. Please check it out, and with the availability of the temporary structure mod it only cast about a dozen thatch to get you low enough to apply your stone foundation.
