To start off: THERE IS NO SERVER WIPE CURRENTLY PLANNED. I've been asked several times if we're going to wipe, which is why we're having this conversation. There are several strong opinions on this subject and for good reason. Some want a straight up 100% wipe, some would like to keep a dino or two, some would like to retain their levels. Those are all valid ideas but we can't please everybody so I'm not including those options on this particular vote. We admins would like to hear a straight up, hard-line decision from everyone that plays here. All opinions will be heard, no voice is too small...unless you don't vote. Please feel free to comment below. -Nails

Here's my opinion:
As you may or may not know I have over 1700 hours on this game. I've been through 3 FULL server wipes, 4 if you include starting this server....most of Enron has.
While I STILL miss some of my dinos and base designs I have always found that starting over has reinvigorated my enjoyment of the game. Each time things become easier and faster. I have more stories to tell and new ways of dying...and I get to play with several of my friends again who will come back to the game JUST to help rebuild.
This server is by far my favorite set of dinos (I love my Argen 'Burnt') and I recently tore down and redesigned Enrons South Base entirely on my own. So I love this base more that any other I've done. I'm sure Nashiq would say the same for the Glacier Castle he built.
I'd personally rather not wipe anytime soon. But I'd be 100% okay with a full wipe, no level retention, no kept dinos. I'd also want to remove the drop mod, despite how much it helps our newer players it's super OP.
Overall I'm more interested in making this a fun place for you, our players.
As Fail once stated, "Anything that makes our players happy, is a good thing.".

Progression in a cooperative PVE server is a server-wide thing. The drop mod in the recent month has made all progression obsolete imo, with all the new bps all over, there's no material reason to do any end game content. The only reason to go is to see caves and deep-sea loot crates once for lols.
That's the only argument I have for a wipe. I like my dinos, but as far as structures go, our tribe is basically self-restarting when the biome comes out anyways, with very likely move to the northeast and new bases likely for Ricktor and Ramb0.
That's why I voted yes, with exceptions. I don't particularly want a wipe... except that there's no longer any meaningful progression to be done on the server except some activities for shits and giggles.

that's also due to the game really not being finished. at some point you'll HAVE To run bosses to upgrade your gear or build things.

I voted yes with exception. As someone who just started on this server I think I have built myself a pretty nice and creative base with lots of plans for more. I would not like the idea of going through all this just to wipe. Plus, if there is going to be a wipe within a month, there is no incentive for someone like me to be active until after the wipe. Aside from the community, there is no reason for me to build more, obtain more dinos, store kibble, stockpile resources, etc.
Now having said that, I am eager to try the Center. There is lots of room to build and places to explore. I would support a wipe if there were a few guarantees. One, there would be some kind of a boost to harvest and taming for the first little bit. Second, I would love to see the wild dino pickup option activated. I disagree that it is OP or breaks the game. If a flier is big enough to grab them, they should be able to grab them, period. Yes. There is the worry it would be used for griefing. But we are a close community and have strict rules. A few instances may occur. But as long as we have rules in place and they are enforced, it shouldn't be a problem. Also, is there a way to set dinos only? I don't know. Lastly, I would like to see alphas turned off, at least in the beginning when we are all most vulnerable. I am probably one of the minority that don't think they should be in the game at all. But that's my level of gaming and what I like in a game like this. Personal preference. Once people get established, I would be fine with turning them back on. But I would prefer a game without them.
Thanks for giving us a voice! I will of course bow to the majority and not complain if things don't go my way. I've made some good friends here and will follow you folks wherever you lead.

I say no, mostly because of already putting so much time into rebuilding and it has all been on my own although I have a tiny help now. Plus I just got my quetz!

If we wipe, I would support a total wipe. Never been a fan of a conditional wipe.
I would even be opposed to XP/Gather boosts (beyond the normal)
Of course I'm a big meanie too =)

switching maps is not an option unless those maps fully support bosses/all dev content up to date.

For now I have voted no. If we could be allowed to download a few select dinos after a full wipe, then i'd be alright, but i'm not up for losing all of them just for a biome change, particularly in an area I don't live in (the east coast area is unaffected by any of the changes.
I don't care about the buildings, or the materials, or anything like that. I want to keep my dinos, and a full wipe will not allow me to do that, even if I upload them, as current state is. Would also like the dino grabbing on, but that at least a very minor hindrance tbh.

i don't know how i'd police dino uploading to limit it. once you're in the screen you can upload 100 dinos and i'd have no idea. it'd be an all or nothing thing i'd imagine.

If I can take Spiffy my spino then I will be okay with a wipe, and I think I know how you can do it. If we give you our dinos to transfer you can police the uploads that way, you would be the only ones to do the uploading then when the wipe happens you can just give the dinos back. Though if that wouldn't work then I would much rather not wipe.

I don't know where to start. I'm still in progress of accomplishing things, building, leveling, and if there was a wipe, I'd have to start all over and for that, I'd stop playing the game all together. Who wants to be 3/4 of the way through a campaign just to have the game tell you that you need to start over, given all the time you've put into it. Not me. At least not right now.
NOW, bringing dinos would kind of help. Not 2, but like 10 or 20. So if it comes down to it, to keep me playing, that would make it a little better.
State what your place was mainly built out of and everyone gets the same amount of walls and ceilings of that material to give everyone a boost and to those that are 'hard' don't need to get them. Haha
Idk. Part of me would be ok if it was with stipulations of being able to rebuild but the other part is mad cause I never made it through all my levels and all the resources and stuff I've gathered. That means more to me because that's the time I've spent the most on. To lose all that would just be a forfeit for me. I can't play all day like some. I'm given a few hours a day and after that is real life. And so much of my 'meaningful' time was spent making what my tribe has.
So my ultimate answer is No to a wipe.

As one of the VERY few people who do Deep Sea Loot Crates, its slightly degrading for other people to get asc/mc bps all the time since those bps should be actually difficult to get, and not just someone who gets normal drops, so i would also encourage the thought of removing the drop mod after a wipe. But on the subject of wipe, i chose yes, with exceptions, but if that proves to be to difficult/tedious for the admins, then i would still root for the wipe of the server, with no one keeping anything.

Love all the discussion!
Please note that it is estimated that the devs will have 1 to 2 mandatory wipes in the next 6 months.
They are pushing to having the game released by the Holidays, and a mandatory wipe will occur at that time.
There is also rumor of the TheIsland and TheCenter maps merging, which I believe will come with a mandatory wipe.

I agree with the majority that a wipe would generally be good for the server.
We have quite a number of long-time players on the server, and many new ones. The players who have been on the server long will, well, eventually run out of things to do since, although this is a survival game, we get to the point where there are literally no threats to our survival anymore and therefore seek more challenging things (the request to raise dino cap, etc). Also, new players who haven't gotten too established yet will have less to lose if there is a wipe, and they get to start on even footing with the rest of the player base.
I understand that the game is still in alpha, and wipes are bound to come since alot of work is still being done to polish the game up for release (and we also have to be able to let go of what we have when those mandatory wipes come). So I feel that a wipe isn't going to harm the server as much as many would feel it would (it would be sad to have to rebuild everything but honestly - those were the best days of ARK, when we had challenges and goals to work towards). I voted yes with exceptions because I think some changes (raising dino cap, dino level, new mods...) would be fun to play anew with and people would be happy about a wipe and starting again with everyone if there were refreshing changes to look towards.

I'm a bit on the fence as far as a wipe goes. On one hand, I, like others, am fairly new; I still have tons of work to do on my base and my dinos, ESPECIALLY my dinos. A wipe now would essentially invalidate the last week's worth of my free time, which...I wouldn't exactly be pleased with. Furthermore, I enjoy playing solo, so a wipe would be harder on me than it would for the various Tribes on the island. On the other, a full wipe would help make the island feel fresh again, as I currently live near fairly large bases that seem to have no (regularly) active players. Moreover, I might be able to find an even better place to build a base on, or even claim one of my old favorites.
If we did do a wipe, I'd at least like to see some kind of compensation for it, be it a gathering/XP Boost, Dino transfer, or whatever. I'd just really prefer to not have to start exactly at square one. As long as people aren't afraid to throw a few extra freebies into the public smelting station, I'd be fine with deleting (or toning down) the drop mod as well.

I'm absolutely all for a complete and total wipe. Although I voted Yes with exceptions in favor of players who might be attached to their dinos.
Things I see that would be positive about a complete and total wipe:
- New and old players would be on even footing. Naturally this might lead to some of us finding friends we might not have otherwise. I've always seen this server to be very friendly towards one another, and everyone who could would always try to pitch in to help someone in need. A wipe would bond the community we have in my eyes as we all start again and survive together.
- I am extremely interested in seeing how much I can do alone. When I first joined this server I was absorbed into Frostborn and effectively skipped the hard life of starting anew in ARK. I proceeded to adopt and tame a bunch of dinos and build huge structures. But now with this update looming, I've all but stopped, wondering if we were going to wipe when the biome update dropped. It would be amazing to get to actually have this experience on a multiplayer server where there were people who could help me and people I could help should the need arise.
- Dead tribes and their dinos would be removed from the map, freeing up space and reducing lag. I'm aware this isn't as huge of a problem as it was a while ago, but it's still valid.
- The world will be dangerous again. For the first few weeks following a wipe, it'll be dangerous again. Let's face it, the game isn't as fun when it isn't dangerous. This is a survival game after all.
Things I see that would be negative about a complete and total wipe:
- New players having just started and just got their foothold in our current world. I understand that this is a primary concern and could end up driving some players away.
- Relics of time past would vanish. Do you ever look at your base and think back to when it was just an open area with no structures in it?
- Everyone's beloved dinos would be gone. Personally, I would mourn the loss of my first legit quetz I got in ARK. Buttstallion, you will never be forgotten.
All this said though, I am still completely in favor of a wipe, and I'd almost certainly go back to playing ARK like 10 hours a day if it happened.

I love this server and the players in it.
One month ago, bad servers after an other I had found you guys. I, like many others that are new had spent lots of time building and designing our perfect base. Finally now after lots of grind and carefully build out all my building with temp first I have build a base that I'm happy with but not yet complete. As a fresh player in this server we still find it fun and exciting with the game.
We are a PVE server so players being on "even ground" has no real effect on one an other. Our experienced players are so friendly that being on uneven ground are inviting and helping inexperienced players to stay in this server and grow as a community. Sometimes our server lags but because of how hardworking admins are, they took care of abandon things and as a result our lags are cut to a enjoyable play time. Our lag is even better than PVP server that wipes since April. (My gf is in one and her's lags are worse than ours.)
I understand the experienced players on the server could feel a bit bored since they now have build everything they need and want so everything else just seems like a chore but if they would love a new start why not give up everything they have and start a new character?
Admin could delete everything they have built and delete who they were so they can even have a new character with their old name. Dino and stuff they would like to keep they can simply handed to a trusted friend then come back and claim it, admin does not have to decided wipe all, wipe with conditions or wipe new player's hard grind. Sorry for admin might have to do a bit more work than they have already done but this way everyone could be happy?
In this way "wipe" and "condition" becomes a personal choice.
If the beacon drop mod seems too easy for people then take it away? But our community is so great that we just borrow BPs from one another anyways. If you want it more challenging for you then you could still get BPs the hard way.
Some players feel our map is a bit crowed, I think a lot of it has to do with our available space is cut in half by the game biome change once the updated map comes on then people can moved around more in turn space problem will solve it self.

I voted no because I would like to wait ATLEAST until they add the tek tier, to be able to ATLEAST build a few tek tier items. It would suck completely if we wiped and soon after they added said tier and me without the stockpile we have right now.
Yes, if you ignore that reason I just stated, I may have liked a wipe, even though i would have still resented the 36+ hours Jamal and I just put into making our underwater pen recently. Lastly, I would be completely IN FAVOR if a wipe of we switched to The Center, but of course, as it has been said before, thats not gonna happen.
P.S. This is a great server, but of course it being PvE theres only so much hostility you can get from the map. I know you guys like lite mods for x and y reasons and you have already stated more reasons as to why not use mods that change dino lvl etc etc, but i dont know, i feel that by it being a PvE server the island should be more difficult (and well, mods that change this I will speak of might as well not break most things since again, its PvE, theres no real competition), or atleast have scarier dinos, not just be "Oh hey a lvl 120 Trex! Lets watch it burn with the giga" and just in case, when i say more difficult i dont mean switching the gathering or taming to default, its for the reason stated above. I know, this might just be me speaking, errm, writing, and I really have no idea as to how make it more difficult and still keep the balance, so might as well just ignore this hahaha.

I voted yes, because at this point, especially for those of us that have been on for a while I assume as well, the gameplay has gone stale. Like Teclee just said, and others too, on a PVE server there is only so much in the way that things are threatening. The feeling of building up and establishing yourself is probably the most fun the game has (imo of course). I understand this would be a big blow to those only on their way or just reaching that point that the only things left to do are breed Oxygen into Argents just for a few extra levels, but at the same time your "value" in terms of server growth and future shoots up exponentially.
The way I see it, if we start again, everything is needed, we all need good fliers, everyone wants to take down a quetz, find some beavers, tame a Rex for nomming some meat. That also means anyone that manages to get those things can help others, and if they choose to, also profit to further their own base/personal growth. Almost all "markets" are saturated, so for new people there isn't something to break into, or even compete for.
Almost everyone has a quetz, or can easily get one if needed, massively reducing any real challenge, you can fly up to the volcano, produce a bunch of ingots, fly home, and be loaded in metal in a short time without any challenge or effort. Don't get me wrong, I love the forge setup on the volcano, and I'm 50/50 on if I'd ask to have it in again if we did wipe, but who remembers flying a Ptera to grab a few metal just to repair your crossbow, or an argent trying to flap along to the mountain that didn't currently have a 100+ rex hanging out waiting to eat you. That challenge was fun, and exciting, it gave a nice thrill at times.
As for mods, I do agree something to increase difficulty would be nice, though just upping dino levels just means higher tamed dinos and then you have the same situation, but stronger things to deal with threats that really don't go up by much. Perhaps there are other mods that can be use that don't edit the core files that might bring in more challenge, or other things that'd be suitable. I'd never recommend changing exp/gathering/taming, I think those are spot on, but there might be other ideas. I am for removal of the drop mod, while I won't go looking for ocean drops, I think those that do should be rewarded, even if it means they sell the service to use the fancy BPs they find down there. Right now you might find something, but someone else already pulled it out of a yellow, maybe even something that's better, not even from a red!
Overall it just comes down to challenge, wants, and needs. I'll go behind whatever is decided, but I do hope we consider a full wipe. Also with the idea of wipe with conditions, like keeping levels, bases, base materials, dinos, whatever. Aside from MAYBE levels (though it's the only one I might personally be okay with I think it's better to do a full wipe), I think it's best to go clean slate, you add in some old dinos and it takes only a short while before everyone has 219 beavers, 200+ quetz, etc etc, and we're back at the no challenge, no build stage. Let's all live off the raptors we luck into early on, use bows with tranq arrows, really work for a new Ark world together.
That's it for my speech, sorry it's not broken up better, I jump thought to thought. I hope we can come up with something that will please most of the community, if not all of it, cause I really do like the people that I know, and I'm sure I'd like the people I haven't met yet, I'd hate to see people go who were unhappy with any decisions made.

After reading the comments here, I find myself changing my attitudes towards a full wipe. As a new starter here, this isn't my first fresh start. This is my third server, one being an overpopulated official PVE server. I have started over twice now. It's becoming a lot easier as a lot of the fears that come with being new to the game are gone and there is a confidence in knowing what dangers you can face head on.
I agree that the drop mod needs to go. It's not necessary. While I have pulled some cool things out of there, I can't say they really have helped my game as much. Although the ASC pick makes thatch harvesting a breeze.
I am also changing my mind about my conditions. My idea for increased multipliers for the first while doesn't seem important to me any more. I have done this a couple of times now without the multipliers.
I have built a beautiful base with plans to make it more amazing. But I can start that again. To that end, I would like to see something in place for existing tribes to have dibs on their current locations if they wish. You can bet the existing tribes will be the first to sign on after the wipe, so staking that claim would be easy. But as there are new people arriving every day, I don't know how that would be enforced.
I plan to spend the time between now and decision time building my base and exploring. I don't plan to do any stockpiling or branching out to breeding and such until we know what's happening. Just gonna have some fun.

-Removing the corpse/dino finder.
-Setting the corpse decay timer back to 15 min instead of 30.
-Removing the drop mod.
This alone would do the trick. But people are throwing rocks at me as they read this.
