We've had an incident of a fridge being raided by someone. This fridge was locked so they must have used some sort of hack to get into it. Please keep an eye on your stuff and post if the same happens to you.
If anyone has heard of someone bragging about a large amount of kibbled obtained let us know.
If this continues we may have to start admin checking inside fridges etc. I don't want to do that.

Has there been multiple players who experience this or has this been a single incident?

Was the fridge locked and pin coded? Or was it just locked. If it was pin coded I've heard of scripts that people can run that unlocks them, but it takes hours upon hours.
Also I think I heard Tavvy mention his unlocked kibble fridge was raided, I'm not sure if it's the same incident or a different one. But yeah raiding other people's stuff sucks, always remember to lock ya stuff folks!

Until this is figured out, one easy way to help for kibble in particular is to leave it in egg form until you need the kibble lol. A trick we used to use before fridges locked and ppl could forget to close the door behind them >.<
They may be able to see your vast collection of eggs, but they'll probably look elsewhere when they realize they'd have to make dozens of trips to get the eggs out to a transport dino, and a dozen trips home and back, risking getting caught the whole time lol.

I have found that if you get a dodo and then name the dodo say, Fridge, and keep your eggs in there. It's almost like having a fridge. If you believe it hard enough it will happen. I have never tried to look inside a dino from another tribe so I have no idea if this will work or not... But I have found that if you believe in something hard enough most times it doesn't make any difference and you will just be disappointed in the end.

I would welcome the admins examining my fridge (I just want the attention)

This happened to us yesterday. We lost about 400 electronics/polymer from a locked chest. We noticed some people at our base checking inventory often, so they may be investigated.
BUT, because of this, and it's really sad we've had to do this, we're creating our own mod with unhackable boxes, vaults, fridges and generator. It will be added shortly. To those who made this necessary, you suck. To everyone else, we'll work on getting it in asap.

So we would have to replace our existing containers with these modded ones? I am no programming or mod expert. So help me out here. If people are able to hack into locked storage containers, how will modded containers become unhackable?

We'll provide more information prior to release.

Yes you'd have to replace them. have to create a new item (green puzzle piece ). They could still be hacked if you pin code it. by default they'll be safe due to the way the exploits work. as nails said we'll go into it when it's ready.

Any chance this mod includes logging of input/output of storage containers per interaction? If not could I perhaps help in adding this?

If you are a modder and have skillz, please take a crack at it, or collaborate. I am looking into more admin tools and log/database access to pull events.
We will find you, steal my stuff that's one thing, but make me work when I should be building in ARK....that's when it's over!

So how can we protect our containers for now? Wall it off, or default lock no pin code?

for now, multi tiered system. room within a room, one door pin coded one not, all boxes having different pin codes. force them to use multiple exploits.
as for logging, i've looked into it. it's possible, but there's no identifying characteristic to a box. we may do it anyway because at least we'll be able to identify who grabbed 500 electronics in a day.

Hi everyone,
Please take extra precautions to ensure everything is locked/pin coded and secure, both when you log in and before logging off.
Following Nashiqs suggestions would be highly advisable.
This could not only could be an internal theft issue on our server but it appears that some official servers are having similar problems where normally locked containers are becoming unlocked.

Would not recommend pin coding (ever) in ark. There's several pin bruteforcing apps out there and since pins are only 4x numbers it can be cracked in minimal time. (It's like making a password to a website 4 numbers - WEAK)

The game has implemented delays when brute forcing. also the main exploit now is when a box doesn't have a pin, the exploit ADDS a pin to the box and opens it.
You can't win either way.
Our mod will fix the issue as long as you leave it alone, as it has a default pincode that's not numbers so it can't be brute forced (even though it says it doesn't have a pin code, which means the new exploit to add a pin code won't work either.)

Not yet, we're working on finishing up a mod that will contain new fridges, storage boxes, vaults and fridges to protect your stuff.

(It's like making a password to a website 4 numbers - WEAK) Lets make a mod that allows for 10 digit PIN codes Alphanumeric And with some kind of lock-out mechanism, like 30 min lockout after 10 failed attempts. Adding digits would just make a brute-force take longer - it'll still be easy to do without a lockout.

I read that the stink eye security software will boot you after 10 failed attempts, didn't research it much yet
