Hello AAH,
My fiance and myself are still fairly green to ARK, but started on a very empty PvE Island server. Which taught us some basics, but was not terribly fun. We're mature gamers and enjoy building and taming and having some community to chat with to unwind.
Currently we are running on a Scorched Earth PvP server, which has been ok, but a bit of an adventure. And for people fairly new to the game, it hasn't always been terribly forgiving. Although we've started to make some friends along the way.
I spent some time today looking for a new home as they're starting their new "season" in about a week and a half. Once again, lots of valuable learning experience, but watching people kill off your hard tamed and raised dinos with a LOL, is hard to take, especially when you work go to school and are looking for something a little more leisurely, but still has the challenge of randomly getting your face eaten off.
Questions after reading the forums for a bit and getting a feel for how nice this community is.. (Seriously, helpful people and admins.)
Fishing Holes, Libraries? I like it already.
But back to questions.
Platform limit? If you have a core of about 20 or so good peoples on a 70 person server and are having issues hitting the cap. Are a couple in a tribe going to have issues with a starter raft until we get some levels and dinos under our belts?
We've found we really enjoy the taming and breeding, farming, etc aspects of the game. We don't need 20 of every dino, but I'd expect we'd make a nice base with a good area for breeding and poo production for crops and such.
While not as familiar with the Island map as I should be. I would assume there are still plenty of good places to build with the nice community that you have here. Any suggestions for someone who hasn't been too far inland enough to know?
I also occasionally like to stream and am looking to get back into it a bit now that I have stopped dying constantly, in regards to taming/breeding/crazy ARK moments (they seem to happen nearly every time I log in..) Is that ok? Is there anything specific, in regards to rules there, outside of giving the the nice place you've made here lots of nice compliments and such?
