Looks like this was done, presumably due to the new creatures in 258? I haven't noticed much difference on land, but in the ocean the number of creatures has increased by at least an order of magnitude. This morning I saw dozens of megalodons and basilosaurs, more than I've seen in total the past few weeks. I even managed to kill two Alpha Megalodons which were pretty much nowhere to be found previously. I also nearly lost my best Basil in the west underwater cave after being swarmed by sharks (and other stuff). Previously I'd be surprised to see more than one or two creatures in here, apart from a handful of ammonites or salmon.
I had this problem on The Center when I was running my own server, it seems after some time the spawners get stuck and very few new creatures appear. DestroyWildDinos always seemed to clear things up and the spawns returned to normal. When was the last time this was done? Maybe it's something that should be done regularly to keep things fresh/interesting, particularly since 258 is allegedly the last patch with new dinos? I'm not sure what frequency would make sense, perhaps weekly or monthly. But it's definitely waaaay more alive in the ocean now!

This was done this morning just before the update.

Was pretty sure about that due to the drastic change observed (and the dodo living at my water pen finally vanished) Mainly just curious if it can be done more regularly since it seems to fix things. If this is only ever done for major patch releases with new dinos, and that's not going to happen any more, then it seems likely it will eventually return to how it was last week. Perhaps that's not considered a problem by others, but it seems quite broken to me!

I am all for a refersh of dinos every once in a while. Especially if it adds more of them. Of course there is risk with this I guess, which is why I am planning on breeding a Giga or two in the coming weeks.

Maybe I can borrow that giga for a minute to get the achievement; not sure I can be bothered taming one Another spawn that I think is impacted by this is Spinos. Has anybody noticed a significant increase in these since this morning?

Has anybody noticed a significant increase in these since this morning? What achievement? I had a giga filled weekend. Don(Axy77) Jena(BlueZheo) and I tamed a 150 Giga Saturday night. Male. Then last night Nails and I had to actually kill a 130 female that was right outside my base because I was online alone. It wasn't having the drowning trick but we managed to get it to gorge itself on metal spikes and a lot of bullets. Even though my tribemates aren't a fan of them, I think that if I can imprint one with the 150 melee score, after all modifiers I should have little trouble being able to kill wild gigas should the need arise again. With mate and imprint boosts (I have a second low level opposite sex giga as well), I think I can potentially get one to do about 2k damage a bite. Enough to provide emergency security services in the future. Gigas are the only land animal my argies can't handle because of the incredible bite/bleed range.

Patch 258 adds some actually obtainable steam achievements that you'd expect, such as "Survive a day and night" or "tame a dino" etc. There's one for riding a giga too, which is the one I was talking about.
