Conversation in TeamSpeak about this recently, thought we should share i7-5820k 6 core OC to 4.5GHz gskill 16GB ddr4 ram running at 3k mghz EVGA GTX970 acx 2.0 superclocked (20%) 4gb 960gb patriot ssd 3TB 7200 storage MSI X99s 1000w Corsair platinum rated monitors are 2x 24" 1x 27" need another 970 for SLI. I do a lot of database work so that's why I went with the i7 over the i5.

Just updated my system from my old 3770k CPU. New Build: i7-6700k 6 Core 4.0GHz (Have not decided if I want to OC yet) HyperX 16GB ddr4 ram 2666MHz(No OC on this yet as well) EVGA GTX970 acx 2.0 SSC 4gb Main SSD: Samsung EVO 850 M.2 500gb SSD 2nd SSD: Intel 530 500GB SSD Gigabyte z170 Monitors: 1 24"(144hz), 1 24"60hz Not that it matters, but it kind of does. Brown switches when I am in a public work environment. Blues when I am by myself. Even though they are a bit harder to find in the states when you are looking for the higher end models (but the lower end are still super awesome) I prefer Ducky Channel keyboards just for the simple layout and rock solid dependability. On a somewhat related topic. I went with a closed loop CPU cooler for my new build, and have noticed a few things. I went with the Corsair h115i closed loop CPU cooler this time aroundand have started to hear what I believe to be pump noise coming from it. It only happens when I put some load on the computer, which is mostly gaming, my editing software has yet to make it's way back onto my computer. It's some ticking noise that resembles a HDD but there is no HDD in my computer this time around so I know it's not that. I also notice some hissing noise of sorts which I assume is just the fluid but could be some air pockets which I for sure don't want. I am going to hook up my Noctua NH-D14 once I get some more thermal compound in to ensure that it is the cooler. It's working fine and keeping the CPU at amazing temps, the sound just doesn't seem right to me
Just thought I would through this out there if someone is thinking of making a new machine and considering going the closed loop route that seems to be all the craze. I will update once I find out more.

water coolers make a ticking sound, no way around it, sooner or later they're going to have bubbles in them. they're still less noise than a old school heatsink/fan but... it's up to the user if a slight ticking sound is more annoying than a constant giant fan noise.

that's weird. I have had my liquid cooled system for 2 years and it makes no noise. maybe they have improved it since you have last tested them?

Yeah, I know another person that uses one and he doesn't have any noise and I found a Corsair forum post saying that they should not be making any noises. Again, I'll check all the settings for my MOBO incase there is some odd fan controller setting that is giving it issues. If that doesn't work and my old Cooler which is pretty silent gets rid of the noise I'll just RMA it and see what happens. If it's something that I have to deal with I'm fine with that as the performance is still worth the noise.

mine ticked and everything i could find said it's normal. you can try to "tap" the bubbles out of the lines but, it is what it is. I tapped and got it to stop, but I expect it to return.
Do you move your PC around a lot? That is usually the cause.

I do not. The build is only about 2 weeks old. So that is what is what troubles me. I know that the bubbles can happen over time, and I accepted that when I was looking into what I wanted this time around. But it hasn't been in place long enough in my opinion for that to occur. And I'm not even sure that is what is making the noise as it is a constant sound.

to be fair the box it was in could have been jostled before you even got to it. try the tapping, see if it helps watercooling is a good 10* better in my experience.

Peripherals in no particular order: Keyboard: Logitech G710+ Cherry MX Brown Switches, used to have a Ducky Shine 3 but apparently they are not very resistant against scotch spilled on them . Mouse: Corsair Scimitar, I used the Naga for so long but after the first generation the quality has gone too shit. Headset: Astro A40's Mic: Blue Yeti

heh. Keyboard: 10 year old microsoft media center keyboard. Love this thing. I can type 120 wpm with it... maybe 80 on any other keyboard. Everytime it breaks i go hunting on ebay and shell out buttloads for a 10 dollar keyboard because they don't make them anymore. mouse = logitech g500. headset = garbage. I have a nice pair of bose for music, but no mic with it.
