Open letter to the server

As some of you may have noticed, we've had quite a bit of drama the last few days.
Two members were caught signing up multiple forum accounts to vote for their screenshots to get the ascendant gear prize from our event. We even brought in the company that hosts the forums to confirm this. As someone who works for a gaming company, exploits like this tend to result in permanent bans. We went the route of a week long ban as we (nails, myself, lordfail and dewfus) thought this was more than fair and would still get the point across and allow them to come back. This was something we discussed for quite awhile, as it was the first bans we have ever done in over a year of being online as a community. To us, it was something much different than breaking a server rule, such as building on mountaintop or cursing in chat.
The temp ban had the unintended consequence of the Deadpool tribe, as well as a couple other zealous supporters, to leave the server. While Deadpool was at the forefront of numerous complaints and rule infractions, we had always been able to solve these with communication. However, this did leave them on pretty thin ice. Despite that, the tribe did not factor into our initial decision. When nails initially asked me what we should do, I wasn't even aware of the members tribe.
Surprisingly enough, no one from Deadpool actually caused any drama (outside of Skull - who was not part of the temp ban), they just picked up and left. Two of their members have expressed a desire to stay, and they are more than welcome, as is the rest of the tribe if they wish to return. The bans will expire Friday as promised. Those that initiated the drama were outside of the tribe, solo players I believe. I'm not sure why they felt the need to get involved, but they sure have put their zeal behind a cause. It appears they've made it their mission to trash our reputation on voting sites. Would appreciate any defense of the server if you feel it deserves it.
As we have noted numerous times, We are all (admin team) working adults with full time jobs, children, outside lives and the issues and commitments that come with that. We do the best we can to devote as much attention as the server deserves, and from the words of most I've spoken with, they're happy with our level of commitment, the events we attempt to plan and throw etc... I do hope everyone still enjoys playing here, and we will continue to do what we do as the community we have built is very close knit and returns every wipe.
