Whaaaaat?
Went to extend my only platform saddle by a few ceilings, to receive this message and be prevented from altering the build or fix the hole I had made ...
I suppose this is a setting by ARK devs to help prevent lag and slow base renders or something.
Can we change our settings?
Can we encourage any spare platform saddle builds to be demolished and saddles put away, please?

+1 on this, tried to get my first platform going, NOPE!  Also we keep hitting the tamed dino limit again. I'm a small guy and I'm killing off my unnecessary dinos (IE dodo and dilos) |

Rafts count. This is why we never used raft mods that increase the building limits.
Server inhabitants:
kill off your crappy rafts! Remove saddles from useless things you don't use. Not every quetz you own needs a fully built saddle.

Server restarts kill off any timed out dinos. So we'll need to restart the server about every 2-3 days to facilitate this.

No way for me to do this in off-peak hours. As I'm typically available during mid-afternoon to early evening. Doubt any other Admin could accommodate this--in that time frame at least. I can say that we do try to avoid restarting when we're busy, however this can't always be helped. These restarts will be just to kill off unclaimed/timed out dinos so I'll try to do this when I get home from work. |

There's tons of scripts out there for daily restarts, when I ran my own I found a lot of info on gameservers.com and the ark forums on steam.

So Bluefang can do scheduled restarts for us, but they cannot (will not) save the server. I'll stick to manual restarts. I feel safer this way anyway, if there's an issue I can address it right then and there rather then rely on a script. |

Some tribes have like 4-5 boats loaded down with like 2 beds etc Not something we can change through the server ini settings, per tribe at least (only for the server) and it's not something we're going to police as admins. Unless it's something simple like, one platform saddle and one raft per tribe. Even then it's a slippery slope. I refuse to micromanage how individual players/tribes build, it'll become rather complicated. This is why I don't admin a PVP server. So the only way would be to reduce (or increase) the servers allotted allowance of platforms saddles/rafts. There is currently a server limit of 100 platforms/rafts. Increasing this would decrease server performance, which is also the reason we've never increased the number of structures allowed on a platform or raft. MaxPlatformSaddleStructureLimit=100 Default setting appears to be unknown, however rumor show it at 60. But I can't find hard evidence of this from the Devs. At the end of the day we've placed several settingss where they're at to ensure server performance isn't affected. We already have enough people complain about lag, rubber-banding and ping. These issues are caused by a number of things including (but not limited to) the local client, sever settings and memory leaks over time. So we do what we can to mitigate the problem. But the server settings, rules, server restarts and admins can only do so much. So again, people need to be socially responsible neighbors and police themselves. |

And what about platform saddles, people have been logging in just to refresh timers but they are not removing their platform saddles. Come to think of it, I believe enron has the most platform saddles on the server right now I took care of my tribe last night. I haven't been on-line in a week while dealing with family issues. I think at this point Fire you should worry about yourself and your "tribe"and stop worrying so much about what other people are doing. I found several currently active players, including some of the more vocal players regarding this issue with empty rafts all over the place. So once AGAIN, delete unused rafts, remove unused platform saddles. I think we've exhausted this issue and frankly I'm tired of repeating myself. |
