Logged in today and thought my tribe mate was being funny and dragged my body into the middle of no where. Until I realized everywhere is nowhere now. My character still exists, is still level 79, but everything is gone. All bases, all beds, all dinos that we owned. Which was only around 30 dinos.
I was logged in 2 days ago, and my tribe mate was logged in last night. My characters name is Zeb. Tribemate is Seldom Herd. Tribe: Golden Dongers.

While flying around the island on my semi-weekly clean up trip, looking for timed out bases abandoned dinos, rule violations etc. I found a decent sized base along the east coastline that had long since timed out, been completely looted and had no dinos. Naturally, I destroyed the base...since this typically means that the tribe has taken a hiatus or left the server. Admins must to this in order to make room for active player and their tames. If you maintain multiple bases you need to do just that, maintain them. All this would have required is that a player be in the area to reset the structure decay timer. Not more, no less. In this case, we can replace some of the lost dinos and structures. Please PM me with the details of what you lost.

Ugh. Let me vent for a second, then hopefully we can get back to playing with dinosaurs. So you can imagine the frustration here. I get it. Admins have to keep the server 'clean' to maintain stability, avoid caps, etc. People come, and people go. But should one base dictate wiping everything that a tribe owns? Wouldn't it be better protocol to develop some way to ensure that a tribe is truly 'absent'? I know, you can't steam message from in game, and you can't PM in ARK, but perhaps a sub-forum here, or a channel on Discord for bases about to be destroyed? "Tribe of xxxx. Your base has decayed and will be wiped in 48 hours" or something. Or even look at a tribe member list and look at last access time. And I know it's logistically tough to check multiple bases, but based off 1 decayed base, why wipe everything? You can't see what you're wiping? And I know you talk to a lot of people on the server, but both Seldom and myself have talked to you this week. It's just the two of us and we're not high rollers, so our tribe name doesn't stand out. Our tribe was on as of 11 pm last night. I understand your problem...but the solution in this case was way overkill. I see in the rules that there is a tribe registration. Guess I'll do that now. But you say in the rules " If your base times out, it will be destroyed and dinos removed to make room for new people." Maybe that should be rephrased to 'all possessions'. Like I said, it's just the two of us in the tribe. About a week ago (maybe 2 weeks, I don't remember), we were completely wiped out by a Giga attack. That's the game, we roll with it. We pooled all of our resources from that swamp base that you saw abandoned just to rebuild at our main base. We had amassed a total of 30 dinos after the rebuild. Finally tamed a quetzel for the first time in the game, got our industrial grinder built, etc. On our to-do list was to destroy that swamp house, or at least get some dinos back over there. But based on the circumstances, we were willing to let that base die. We never thought that meant, 'you will lose all your shit on the server'. And I get it. You run this server because it's a labor of love (I assume). I'm beyond frustrated/pissed/damn near ready to quit the game over this. But then again, it's just a game. And in all my time playing Ark, yours is the best server I've ever played on. I paid for the game of Ark...I don't pay you...and for that, I don't expect anything from you. So that's why I REALLY appreciate you working to resolve this as best you can. So yeah, I'd like to see what we can do to rebuild, get stuff back, whatever. Id even be willing just to get some free dinos to get started, but I don't know if you do that. You said you can replace some of the lost dinos and structures and asked for details in a PM. I just don't know what details you need. What do I need to include in the PM to get the ball rolling?

I don't think you understand the time it takes to demolish a base piece by piece. We're talking 3-4 hours for a decent sized base. admins do not and will not take the time to do that. we only have one other option and that's destroy tribe buildings/dinos in one fell swoop.
if you build in metal, that's a month and a half that base is sitting there taking up room before it disappears on its own. we have to handle that for a large population like we have.

It was made out of wood. And I wouldn't even say it was 'decent sized' base. It was 2 floors that wasn't even big enough to hold dinos inside.

You helped us tame our best rex the other night. Got it up to 190 before the wipe, which was great for us. Once we get settled, we might reach out. I appreciate the offers. Ryno hooked us up with a few dinos last night that were greatly appreciated.

Think I already stated that I would replace what you lost.
FYI the base I destroyed (that was timed out) was made all of stone.
As I mentioned, a list of the general size of the base, materials, resources of what you lost-- including dinos. I could have replaced everything yesterday.

Hey Nails thanks for working with us and getting us started again! We now have a new location and a base that could prove to be better than our last. THANKS AGAIN!!
