Is this the plan, or not?
I'm curious because if it is, that's fine. I just want to know because if so, it just means a bit of a dead period coming up as there's little point continuing to progress much of anything knowing it's all going to be wiped anyway.

It might have changed, but it was indeed the plan of the admins to wipe upon release. However there is the caveat that it'll depend on a few factors like what changed, how long since last wipe and general server health.

So the plan has always been NOT to wipe upon release UNLESS the Devs advised wiping. I'm would not go aginst the devs suggestion in this case since it could cause major issues if we didn't listen to their advisement. That said, there will be some admin/server changes coming up. Tavvy and I will still be admins, we are in discussion about how best to run two servers, likely an Island with mods (including S+). Personally, I'd like to run Ragnarok with lite mods, no S+. I know most people seem to have become addicted to S+. So I'd like to point out that we had a strong community long before we ever added S+. No timelines as of yet. As always we will poll the community here. However, the admins will still do what's best for the spirit and balance of ARK Against Humanity.

I have been able to confirm that the Devs are currently saying No wipe upon release unless there is a game breaking need for it.
We do not plan on wiping unless Wildcard recommends it, as of release this will remain policy. We would only ever wipe if we absolutely had to, which is why we don't want many mods on the server - mods can lead to wipes if the right events occur.

Starting a new server cluster and putting an obvious end to the old one is effectively a wipe. I'm not saying don't do it. I'm not even mad about it. I am saying there's some misunderstanding on the playing population. People thinking they are going to somehow be able to upload dinos from the current server and move them over to the new cluster. I'm of the belief this isn't happening. I'm honestly not sure from a pragmatic standpoint why extend the old when it's shelf life is limited. I understand wanting to eventually down hard/alpha (or is gamma?) bosses...but in the end, it's just fulfilling achievements in Steam - nothing more.

Think Fail might have just been confirming if the Devs were suggesting a wipe upon release. It's been a long-standing question amongst the ARK Community. I meant to comment earlier. No, the current Bluefang Island server is not connected whatsoever with the new Linux 3-map server cluster. No transfers from the Current map in the cluster can happen. Our tamed/raised dinos are the most emotional aspect of this game, which is why I offered up the option of renewing the subscription on Bluefang server past July 20th. We have the flexibility. However, I see really no reason to continue the Bluefang server past its current subscription. We have a month to decide.

Oh, I did realize that Fail was not specifically referencing this.
There are a couple of threads related to this - and again, you know me - I'm not trying to stir anything up. Don't misread these messages please.
It's just, I couldn't find you last night and this new cluster may be coming up in just a couple days. I honestly had yet to see actual clarification on this so I am glad that you have brought it out into the open now (here, and in the shoutbox).

Yeah, the OP (you) had asked a specific question, in which I was answering. How odd that I would do that!?

Yes, but timing is everything. 6 days later, after not only was it answered, but we also went from a single Bluefang cluster to an entirely different server solution and implementation. Thus making the OP moot.

Thus making the OP moot. That makes no sense. Really? Ok, let's try again. June 13th - We have only one server, the current one. I ask if it's going to be wiped. June 15th/16th - We are told that AAH is opening a new cluster, and the current one is going the way of the dinosaur. Today: I say your specific answer is moot, since you are answering it days after it's been made crystal clear what's happening to the server of today. Hope this helps!

It does not help, but I will pass on your posts to avoid confusion in the future.
